Read the assigned resources listed below and consider missteps that interns often make and ways to finish the internship experience as strong as you began.  It’s easy to lose the enthusiasm of the first days of your internship or to become too comfortable in your position. Remember, an internship is one of the best ways to land a full-time job, and it should be seen as a 10-week job interview.  Even if this isn’t your dream role or you don’t want to stay at your internship organization beyond your 10-week opportunity, the impression you make still matters.  A letter of recommendation, an addition to your professional network, or a new array of experiences and skills can make your next opportunity possible. For this reason, the mid-way point is the perfect time to pull out your “wow” factor and push yourself to do even more.

Answer the following questions in your journal assignment. Please integrate at least one of the required sources into your response.

1. How have you demonstrated your skills, strengths, and preferences during your internship experience?  How could you improve your performance, grow your skills, or strengthen the impression you have made on your supervisor and co-workers?
2. What can you do to ensure that your internship opportunity sets you up for a next opportunity (whether it is a job, another internship, or a grad school recommendation)?
3. What are three, specific measurable things that you can do to finish strong at your internship? Why will achieving these goals be important for your success?
